Doron Raphaeli - Biography
Born in Jerusalem, Israel, Doron began performing professionally at the age of 15, accompanying the internationally acclaimed Hora Dance Troup, on tour throughout the United States and Europe.
Doron studied at the Jerusalem Music Academy and served in the Israeli Defence Force as a drummer in the Military Band.
In 1987, he continued his studies in New York at "The Drummers Collective" and the "La Fareta" African Music Centre. He followed by touring across North America with a number of bands before returning to Israel to form the Israeli renowned modern jazz quartet, "Minuette" which subsequently produced three successful original albums. In 1990, Doron founded the successful latin rock band "Atraf" which to date has released five albums containing all original music.
Over the years, Doron has been an active member in numerous bands of diverse musical styles: Acid Jazz, Celtic, Latin, Baltic, Rock etc.
Doron’s 25 years of experience in music, production, education and performance art includes collaborations with leading artists such as The Gypsy Kings,
David Daor, Dana International (Diva), and many more…
Since 1996, Doron has been a faculty member at the "Rimon" Israeli Music College where he runs drum and percussion workshops and various ensembles.
In 1998, Doron initiated a series of drum circle workshops for corporate training which have attracted clients from the Hi tech, insurance and communication sectors. These drum circles have become very popular among private, local and tourist groups.
In 1997 Doron founded "Tararam”.
